The Fuente Dé cable car climbs 753 metres in about four minutes to the Mirador del Cable, at 1,847 metres. It is a 25-minute drive from El Refugio de Redo and, by some way, the thing we are asked about most.
There is a lot of out-of-date information around about prices and booking. These are the figures from Cantur’s official website for 2026, with the date they were checked given at the end.

High season runs from 1 July to 30 September, plus Easter week and every national public holiday and long weekend. The rest of the year is low season.
Large-family and over-65 discounts: only at the ticket office, not when buying online.
Do you need to book?
Cantur states explicitly that it is not compulsory: tickets are sold at the ticket office subject to availability. That said, in August and over long weekends the queues can be long.
If you buy online, bear in mind that the ticket must be bought at least one day in advance. Buying it from the car park will not work.
Five things worth knowing before you go
- The ascent has a 30-minute time slot. If you miss it, there is no guaranteed place. Coming down has no assigned slot: it is first come, first served.
- There is no refund if it is foggy at the top. You can be in sunshine at the car park and come up into a cloud. It is worth checking the webcam before buying.
- A return ticket is only valid on the same day.
- Changing the date: up to two days before, it costs €1 per ticket and must fall within the same season.
- Bicycles: two per cabin maximum.
With a dog
You can go up with a dog, but only in a closed carrier and with the corresponding supplement. There is a left-luggage point at the top station if you want to leave the carrier while you walk. Breeds classed as potentially dangerous are excluded. Throughout the National Park dogs must be kept on a lead.
Getting there, and the roadworks
Fuente Dé is at the head of the Camaleño valley, some 23 km above Potes. From Redo it is about a 25-minute drive.
Important: access to Liébana on the N-621, through the La Hermida gorge, is affected by roadworks. There can be considerable delays, especially on summer weekends. Check the situation before setting off at obrasn621.es and allow plenty of time.
Opening times
In July it opens from 9:00 to 19:00 and in August from 8:00 to 19:00, with the last ascent 15 minutes before closing. Outside the season the hours are shorter, so it is worth confirming.
